It’s Father’s Day Weekend!!!! Congrats Dad’s, your weekend is FINALLY here!!! Fathers aren’t usually as difficult as moms, and enjoy simple, fun ‘outting’s’ with the family…so let FREE LUNCH help you make a decision about where to spend Father’s day with your dad, significant other, husband, etc…
Grab the kids and hop in the car for a scenic drive over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Just shy of the bridge (approximately four miles east of the Bay bridge), you will find Harris Crab House on the Kent Narrows Waterway. I’m a true Marylander and I DO crabs, so when I’m in the mood for a fantastic seafood feast, I head to Harris’.
Harris’ offers a variety of fresh, local caught seafood dishes that are sure to satisfy those cravings. My favorites are the jumbo male Maryland Blue Crabs, the garlic steamed mussels, fried scallops, steamed jumbo shrimp, hush puppies, and of course, their famous rum bucket. The crabs are so fresh that you can inquire about a certain size and they will inform you that they aren’t available, and BOOM, 10 minutes later, a boat will dock and have the exact size you requested. The large and/or jumbo crabs NEVER disappoint me. They are always easy to open and FULL of LUMP crabmeat. The scallops are fresh as well. They come lightly fried, piping hot, and so tender, they almost melt in your mouth. I’m hearing from others that hush puppies are a ‘Maryland thing.’ How lucky are we? They are fried corn fritters and go GREAT with a dab of ketchup or melted butter, whichever you prefer. They are offered throughout the state with seafood, and such a yummy accompaniment. Mussels are give or take depending on the sauce they are drowned in. This wine and garlic sauce that the Harris’ mussels are served with make for a delectable, chewy bite. The jumbo steamed peel and eat shrimp are a given. Who can eat crabs and not have shrimp as well? But the wasabi cocktail sauce is sure to knock your socks and taste buds off. Lastly, the rum BUCKET. Yes I said bucket, is served in a souvenir bucket, with 5 types of Malibu rums. PERFECT to sit drink, eat, and enjoy great conversation.
If the dad in your life is a seafood lover and would enjoy sitting on the water (they offer inside and outside seating) with a great view of Kent Narrow Waterway, with a good beer and/or cocktail, visit Harris.’ I can guarantee the drive will be well worth the food and experience.
