Joke: Who’s in the mood for Mexican? Answer: Nacho Mama
Ok…Ok…very cheesy, but who said I was in the business of cracking jokes anyway?
Anywho, No really? Who’s in the mood for Mexican?
Nacho Mamas is so yummy! This was my first visit to the location in the Canton area of Baltimore. I was hungry guys. I browsed the menu and saw something that caught my eye. Crab, Jalapeno, and Roasted Corn Soup. I love a good soup as a starter so I was all in. The bartender (I sat at the bar and enjoyed a few libations while there) sat this dish in front of me and I was amazed. A nice portion of chowder, served in a freshly fried tortilla bowl, topped with Maryland backfin crabmeat. The taste was exactly as described. Nice roasted corn in a chowder like sauce, bits of crabmeat, and a good amount of heat as it was going down from the jalapeno. I devoured every drop of the soup and even ate half the torilla bowl! It was so delectable.
I also ordered from the snack menu. I had the Cajun Shrimp & Sausage dish.
Just a small fact about me, I LOVE RICE! The bartender graced me with this dish and I couldn’t believe my eyes. “THIS IS A SNACK?” I asked myself. This dish was reminiscent of a New Orleans gumbo. It included sauteed peppers and onions, 5 nicely sized shrimp, and chorizo sausage, cooked in a cajun beer broth, and served with cilantro rice and sliced bread for ‘soppin.’ This was so much food and so palatable, my counterparts even enjoyed some.
My counterparts also enjoyed the Crab and Smoked Gouda Quesadilla. As mentioned above, this was my first experience at Nacho Mamas and I was very pleased, my friends, however, weren’t as satisfied but didn’t complain. They’d dined in before and enjoyed the same dish previous visits, however, this experience was different. They enjoyed the generous amount of crab in the Quesadilla, but mentioned it was a little dry and lacking the oozing cheese they’d come to remember. I don’t eat cheese so I didn’t try it.
All in all , this was an awesome food experience and definitely a recommendation if you’re ever near a Nacho Mamas.
